Your enjoyable stay at the The Hideaway B&B is of the utmost importance to us! Please read over our policies to answer some questions you may have. For returning customers, please read our policies as they may have changed.
The preferred way to make a reservation is to book online. Same-day reservations are welcomed, based on availability. Rates do not include sales tax or traveling expenses.
State law requires that any guest reserving a room must be at least 18 years of age or older.
Memorial Day until Thanksgiving we require a two-day minimum stay on weekends.
Check-In / Check Out
Check-in: After 3:00 PM ET.
Check-out: 11:00 AM ET.
- We’re flexible with ferry/plane times and offer free secure storage for baggage and access to our common areas.
Quiet Hours: We enforce quiet hours from 10:30 pm – 8 am. Please be considerate to all guests.
Smoking-Free Environment: Smoking is not allowed on the property except in designated areas. A minimum cleaning fee of $300 will be accessed for anyone smoking in non-designated areas such as the house and rooms.
Rates are quoted per night for each room and include a full breakfast for each guest. All rates are subject to a 6% state tax. Our rates are subject to change without notice.
Parking: We offer free parking for all our guests.
Note: All cars need to be transported by Plaunt Transportation to the island and are not included in the rental prices. Please visit Plaunt Transportation for more information.
A 100 percent deposit is required at the time of reservation.
Method of Payment
Deposits can be made by PayPal or credit card. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Balances paid on-site may be paid by credit card or cash. No checks.
Written cancellation received: Before 30 days of your arrival date – Free Cancellation.
Cancellations within 30 days: Within 30 days of your arrival date – 50 percent of your deposit becomes non-refundable.
Terminated Reservation: The Hideaway has the right to cancel any future reservation if the accommodation is unsafe or impossible to provide for the use of the facility or services, you will be reimbursed for all funds previously submitted.
Trip Insurance: We recommend trip insurance for all of our guests due to our strict cancellation policy.
We have a set limit on the number of guests in each room.
Some of our rooms can accommodate extra guests. Please contact us at 231-634-7029 if you need to accommodate extra guests.
For each additional guest, there is a $10 /person charge each night of your stay to cover the cost of breakfast and additional housekeeping.
Please do not arrive with any additional guests, even children if not confirmed by The Hideaway staff; we will not be able to accommodate you unless we have a room with a higher capacity available.
House & Floor Rentals:
House Rentals: Non-refundable $1500 deposit required on entire house rental 30 days prior to reservation. Requires a three-day minimum stay.
Floor Rentals: Non-refundable $500 deposit required on floor rentals 30 days prior to reservation. Requires a three-day minimum stay.
Peak Season & Off-Season
Peak season: May 10th to Nov 28th.
Off-season: Nov 29th to May 9th.
We offer free pick-up/drop-off to and from the airport and ferry.
Please make sure to make a reservation for your car to be transported over by the ferry. Arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled ferry time if bringing a car and 15 minutes before if just on foot.
The Hideaway is not responsible if you’re to miss your ferry to come over to the island.
If the ferry doesn’t run the day of your reservation you may qualify for a partial/full refund or gift certificate for future use.
Children are welcome but please remember your children are your responsibility and should be under your supervision at all times. We require a parent or adult guardian to occupy children 17 years old and younger on our property. This includes being inside, outside, and by the beach.
Caution: we do have open water on the property.
Only registered guests may stay in rooms overnight. If arriving at different times, only named guests will be permitted to check in. Please be sure to list each guest’s name(s). Unregistered guests will be asked to leave the premises.
We are Pet friendly. A 50.00 dollar a day refundable deposit will be charged. The deposit will be forfeited if there damage caused by the pets. Pets must be under the control of the owner at all times. The Hideaway is not responsible or liable for a pet while on the premises.
Note: We do have two cats that live on the property.
Please beware on Bois Blanc Island there is no hospitals, pharmacy, and is limited to medical trained residents. The ferry runs during the day at select times.
Make sure to bring all medical supplies, prescriptions, or medication you will need for the whole trip in case of emergency.
We are wheelchair accessible but are limited to the first floor with selected rooms.

Wireless internet access is complimentary throughout our bed and breakfast. We request that you refrain from large downloads as a courtesy to your fellow guests and the business function of the bed and breakfast.
We are not responsible for service outages of this service including provider maintenance, weather conditions, or incompatibility with your electronic devices. Please do not use cell phones or other devices in areas that might disturb other guests.
Responsible consumption of alcoholic beverages is allowed on the premises on a bring your basis. Any guest consuming an adult beverage must be 21 years of age or older.
All guests/guest parties are responsible for any damages due to alcoholic consumption. Excessive consumption and abusive behavior will not be tolerated and will result in you being asked to leave with no refund.
No illegal substances are allowed on the premises. Violation of this policy will result in the proper authorities being notified, the guest being asked to leave the property, and forfeiture of all monies due for the reservation.
Fisherman and Hunters
Fishermen and Hunters are welcome. Due to safety, all firearms must be kept in cases without ammunition while on the premises. All ammunition must be secured in a different location separate from your firearm.
We welcome everyone and ensure an enjoyable and safe stay.

- We require for you to wear masks in designated areas as issued by the mandates in the State of Michigan.
- Social distancing dining available or certain rentals have in-room dining if desired.

We know this is
Breakfast in the dining room. Will have to be seated six feet apart from other guests.
If you’re leaving before breakfast we do offer breakfast an early breakfast or breakfast-to-go boxes. These will be simpler than the traditional breakfasts.
Breakfast serviced to your room. We will schedule a time each morning to bring you breakfast!
Breakfast served daily. Let us know if you have any restrictions. We will do our best to accommodate them. We are not responsible for any allergic reaction to foods or products used at the bed and breakfast.
If you have forgotten anything we have supplies available such as toothbrushes, razors, and soap.
If your room needs anything. Such as towels, hand towels, and toilet paper let someone know. We are happy to accommodate your needs.
Kitchen / Laundry Access
We offer our guests scheduled access to our kitchens and laundry facilities. This is first come first served. Please ask our innkeeper to learn more.
The hot tub is for guests only. Please refrain from using glasses or glass bottles.
During the pandemic, we’re only allowing one reservation at a time. Please sign up for 30-minute blocks.
Please use the hot tub with caution. Enter and exit the hot tub carefully, with no jumping or diving. Please refrain from using soaps or oils in the spa. Elderly persons and pregnant women should consult their doctor before use. Anyone with heart disease, diabetes, high or low blood pressure, or any serious illness should consult with a doctor before using any hot tub.
Please replace the spa cover after each use.
Please contact the innkeeper to arrange any special service items.
Note: Being on the island it is harder to accommodate short notice special requests. We would rather not risk your disappointment. It is best to plan ahead.
Rooms are refreshed every three days if staying longer than two days. If you need or would like housekeeping before then we are happy to accommodate your needs.
· Personal Items: The Hideaway is not responsible for any misplaced or stolen items.
· Damages: Guests are responsible for any damages they cause. Damage or excess cleaning needed after your departure will be billed to you. This includes damage to furnishings, fixtures, linens, or towels that result in the need for excess cleaning, repair, or replacement.
· Lake Access: We offer Lake Huron beach access to all our guests. Swim at your own risk. No lifeguard of duty.
· Liability: The Hideaway is not liable for injury or death while operating equipment such as but not limited to bikes, kayaks, etc.
· RV’s: Motor homes, RV’s, and trailers cannot be accommodated.
· Exercise Equipment: No exercise equipment may be affixed to any room surface, door, casing, or furniture.
· Candles or Open Flames: Are not permitted anywhere on the property. The property is protected by smoke detectors and in-room carbon monoxide detectors. We also have fire extinguishers visibly accessible throughout the property.
· The Right to Ask: The Hideaway reserves the right to ask any person or group to leave the premises at any time without a refund related to undesirable behaviors such as the possession of illegal drugs.
